Self-Development is rapidly growing across humanity like a positive virus, and I can only hope it spreads more.

Alright so this post is going to be interesting, as I initially co-wrote it with Notion AI when I first wrote it as a "social blog". However I am now REWRITING it into a full length post. The way it worked before was "To differentiate each section the AI’s section will be in a quote box, and mine will be normal text."

I wanted to include what it came up with. Alongside my own thoughts and ideas.

However now I will simply add on another section with a new sub-heading to add in my current thoughts for that section.

Introduction

Self-development is a lifelong process that involves a conscious effort to improve oneself. This can be achieved through various means such as learning new skills, setting and achieving goals, and improving one’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

In recent years, there has been a rapid growth in self-development, with more and more people seeking to better themselves. In this blog post, we will explore three reasons why self-development is becoming increasingly popular.

While yes it is becoming increasingly popular over the past few decades, let alone century. There is a reason why it is advancing at an even greater rate, and that is because we are realizing that the rules set up before us; They shouldn’t apply to us anymore, or maybe shouldn’t have at all.

Such as the social norm to specialize versus being more generalized.

Being someone who pursues self-development I think, in my opinion, is purely acting upon your life as a human being. It is integral and part of the human experience.

The more you pursue it however, the greater your chances at success become.

2025 Me: Introduction

Look I have to say, I've always been into self-development. So much so, that when I started making content for the 🌐 United Living Construct it was one of the main tenants and niches of that brand.

Eventually I evolved onto more of a 🎓 Self-Education mindset. However they go hand in hand.

How you choose to improve yourself is key to that aforementioned rapid evolution.

The Rise of the Digital Age

One of the main reasons for the rapid growth in self-development is the rise of the digital age. With the advent of the internet and social media, people have access to a wealth of information on self-development. There are numerous websites, blogs, and social media accounts dedicated to providing information and resources on self-improvement. This has made it easier for people to learn about self-development and to connect with others who share similar goals.

I really like where the AI was going with this prompt, and honestly I couldn’t agree more. The advent of the internet changed everything, and we are seeing that to this very moment.

You are learning about Self-development through a written article, on a social platform built upon the web.

This is where the Modular Degree comes into play.

2025 Me: The Rise of the Digital Age

DUDE. You can learn SO quickly nowadays, if there is something you want to know then you can just ask AI (or if you're a boomer, ask google, or if you're really old: ask jeeves).

My point is that we do not need to retain as much information anymore, and while some studies state that our memory is getting weaker as a result. I don't think that is actually a BAD THING.

The reason being is that yes we do need to remember some things, and to stimulate the brain. That we can agree on.

However we don't NEED to retain repeatable information anymore. Which frees up our storage, and our brains for more important tasks. Think of it like this, if you have your web browser in front of you. You have 30 tabs open, and at least a dozen of them have to stay open for one reason or another.

If you could then instead use Obsidian or some other 🧱 Knowledge Management tool to then take the pressure off. Meaning using a "second brain" or as I like to say "omni brain" to be your second layer of memory for yourself.

Then you no longer need to have those tabs open taking up precious CPU and RAM processing in your computer. In this analogy, the computer is your brain.

It frees up the resources.

The Need for Personal Growth

Another reason for the growth in self-development is the need for personal growth. Many people feel that they are not living up to their full potential, and they want to improve themselves in various areas of their lives. This could be in their careers, relationships, or personal lives. By focusing on self-development, individuals can gain the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their goals and live more fulfilling lives.

You can almost see someone’s level of personal growth based on their actions, mindset, and even appearance.

Granted it isn’t foolproof, but there is a lot you can tell about someone based on those things. Being someone who pursues a better version of themselves shows in their life to others.

People who aren’t living up to their potential will show to others, and you should listen when someone points it out.

There is ALWAYS another level, and you can always strive to be better. You may not be in the best shape, or maybe your mind is foggy.

However those are things you can change, and based on your actions you can improve your life dramatically.

Once you get your baseline down, then you can work on other areas that are important to you. Working towards your Ikigai once you have those pressures lifted.

The Benefits of Self-Development

Finally, the growth in self-development can be attributed to the numerous benefits that come with it. Self-development can improve one’s confidence, self-esteem, and overall well-being. It can also lead to increased productivity, better relationships, and greater success in one’s personal and professional life. As more people become aware of these benefits, they are motivated to invest time and effort into self-development.

Honestly, I spent the first 6 years after high school pursuing my own self-development. Learning as many things as I could, and I could easily say I learned way more on my own than I did in school.

In addition, I’d argue I learned more on my own, than I would have in college as well. That was my journey, and it isn’t going to be the same for you. However knowing what you need out of life is crucial.

2025 Me: The Benefits of Self-Development

I spent the last half of a decade NOT doing as much self-development, as I did in those aforementioned six years.

I didn't need to honestly. I had systems in place for my workouts, and between my exercise and metabolism I had a pretty good physique too. Even when I was gaining a bit of fat.

However this isn't the case anymore. I am getting older, I know I'm still young at nearly 30, and my body is getting slower. Weaker.

I don't like that, and instead of sitting idlily by I made a decision to improve it. I've been exercising more, or at least much harder when I do. I've been decreasing my sugar and caloric intake, trying out fasting, and even meal prepping to improve my diet. These are skills I knew about before, but now I need to relearn in order to master them better for my self-development.

Conclusion

I’m leaving it with the words of the AI:

In conclusion, self-development is experiencing rapid growth due to the rise of the digital age, the need for personal growth, and the numerous benefits it offers. Whether you are looking to improve your career, relationships, or personal life, self-development can help you achieve your goals and live a more fulfilling life. So, take the first step towards self-improvement today and start your journey towards a better you.

2025 Me: Conclusion

We are seeing a rise in this digital renaissance of sorts, and in order to adapt to this environment. We as a species need to adopt the Generalist approach, that is going to lead us into rapid development individually. Then coming together collectively.

Let me know all what you think of this post, it has a bit of a 3 layer approach in each section. Which I think is interesting. People avoid using AI, but if you can find a creative output, then what is wrong with it?

Previous Shorter Version

This was one of my "social articles", an experiment to create medium sized blog posts, akin to newsletters. Across a variety of social blogging networking platforms. Such as Medium, Vocal Media, and Linkedin. Since it didn't quite land; I decided to take these posts and remake them into more full length creations.
Rapid Growth in Self-Development
Rapid Growth in Self-Development Today’s weekly micro-blog post is actually a bit different. I was playing around with the Notion AI, and I wanted to include what it came up with.
