Let's get this out of the way I am not talking about information technology, but rather the act of connecting with other people.
Networking is hard for some people, regardless of personality type, and being able to have a tool or assistant help with that will change a lot for people.
These are the top tools that come to mind for this PolyTools category, and I wanted to share with you what I've found!
#3 - Gobby Goblin
I met this company at Vidsummit, and while I didn't use it with the internal conference communication app Whova. I saw it being used, and they explained it as your own personal conference CRM buddy.
Basically you give it the tags and topics you want to connect with someone on. Such as your content niche for example, and it would scan through the list of attendees to find a person with those characteristics.
Then even create a draft message to send to them. I heard the messages could be hit or miss, but overall a really cool concept. Might help a lot of people accelerate their networkings.
#2 - CLAY Personal CRM
Truly I think one of the first on the market in this personal CRM category, but some others have followed suit. I also just simply made my own in a PKM app. However the integrations, simplicity of the interface, and overall point of this tool really do make it stand out.
Personally I can't say I have used it, mainly due to the pricing, although they do allow for a free plan now for up to 1000 contacts. For a lot of people that would be enough.
#1 - PKM Tools like Notion/Obsidian/Capacities
What I've sort of defaulted to is actually more along the lines of creating MY OWN CRM. Which is certainly not an easy thing to do, but depending on your Knowledge Management - PKM tool it can be done.
I had made a database of people who were guests on my shows, or other shows/podcast hosts. Now in Obsidian I have my own CRM I'm building out by hand where I'm trying to keep track of my contacts.
It is more of a folder structure as of right now, but with the addition of Obsidian Bases core plugin you can make an actual database now.
BONUS: Dot Cards and Popl
I have a physical Dot Card that I always keep on my wallet, and I've used it far more than I ever did with real paper business cards. It does include a unique approach to a "linktree" alternative as well.
My one gripe is that it is super annoying to find the "edit profile link", and you literally have to just make sure you bookmark it.
Popl is something I wanted to mention too as I saw a lot of people using it as an alternative to Dot. While I don't know if there are physical products to use, such as Dot's bracelet, metal card, or adhesive sticker. There are a lot of digital integrations, so maybe if you use a Sales CRM, then maybe that one would be better!
