I feel that Josh does a great job in this video talking about the benefits of being a jack of all trades kind of person. Someone who is polymathic, and how this moniker is actually a GOOD thing.

I've mentioned countless times that the jack of all trades quote is misquoted most of the time. Leaving out the "but oftentimes Better than a master of one" part, but I wanted to go beyond just that lesson. With this video and post I think we get to go into the positives of being a JoAT.

Movement Pattern Development

Being able to understand your body and physical movement takes your brain to fire on all cylinders. Teaching you a variety of skills, that translate well even into non-physical endeavors.

The confidence gained from detecting the patterns, learning new skills, and challenging ourself to new levels. It boosts your overall emotional state, and cognitive energy.

Continuous Learning, and Skill Acquisition

We are constantly evolving, learning new things, and pushing ourselves over any learning hurdles. Which in of itself is a skill that needs to be learned.

With this advantage of constantly acquiring new information, we stay up to date/informed, and adaptable to new stimuli or changes.

"A Jack of all trades is resistant to being deceived, resistant to being taken advantage of, and quicker to adapt."

Being put into new environments, adapting, and learning new ways of doing things. This is exactly the mindset I talk about with the digital renaissance happening.

By spreading yourself across many different things...

It gives you the opportunity to Find that One thing that "sets your soul on fire" as Josh puts it.

This is what happened with Roger Federer, and many other great successful people. They had to try many different things to find what they like, and guess what? It is completely normal for that one thing to change over the course of your life.

I often put it like this, we tend to have a new soul fire passion skill every decade or so!
