Self-EduDevMent
This is a term I coined to be the combined factors of Self-Actualization. I founded my blog with the autodidact ideal. Creating content around Self-Education through the Modular Degree.
Prior to PolyInnovator I did work for my previous endeavor, which one of the topics was particularly around ⚖️ Self-Development with the Four Pillars Philosophy.
Over my years as a personal trainer I realized the key to growth is continuous improvement through progression.
Why did I create this term?
I was trying to find a way to articulate how I saw all three of them as three sides to the same problem/solution.
You want to improve your life, problem, and you want things you can do to fix it, solution. Some people find solace in a library (self-education), and others in the gym.
However what I noticed time and time again is that people were missing 1 or 2 of the other aforementioned sides.
What are each parts?
Think of it like building a house. You lay the foundation, build up the frame, and then you can host parties in the home once it's built!
Each aspect of the Self-EduDevMent is like that building example.
Self-Education
This is your foundation, you cannot improve ANY skill, learn anything about development or improvement. IF you do not teach yourself the skill first. Even finding a teacher won't help because you won't know where to look, or even what to look FOR in a teacher.
Without first having done the learning yourself.
Self-Improvement
The next step is getting 1% better each time, and trying to maximize that percentage in any way you can. As long as you are able to keep that positive growth, even at 1%, then you are able to maintain what you have.
Nothing will ever STAY the same, you either progress or regress. If you're thinking "I just want to maintain my muscle mass" or I don't need to learn anything else more in my field. Then you are going to lose what you have.
Always go for that 1% more or better.
Self-Development
Finally, you have the NOS in the engine, the speed up button if you will. Any successful person didn't just get there from being autodidactic or teaching themselves the skill.
They kept it going, and pursued many other related skills. Constantly trying to be better, and letting their Four Pillars development compound. Taking care of your Mind, Body, Spirit, and Emotions.
When one Pillar goes up, they all go up a bit, but when one Pillar goes down... they all go down.
Auto or Self. How does it break down?
This is a scaling problem. Most people see each part as individuals, RATHER than as a whole. Each one is important in their own right, and while technically people start from anywhere. You won't see as good of results, if any at all, if you don't start from the beginning.
Bring them all together...
Then you get Self-EduDevMent, the process of foundation, progression, and acceleration. This laid the groundwork for what later became my 🧠 PIOS Omni-Brain and 🧱 Knowledge Management topic.
I hope this post illuminates what I've been talking about for years, but should have explained a lot sooner!
