While I'm not a food reviewer channel... I felt compelled today to write a post about my experience with the Indian restaurant in CoMo. As a avid fan of this type of food all of my life I have a sort of keen focus on flavor and spice.
My palette may not be that of a world star chef, but I truly appreciate it when a dish hits the tongue in a delectable way. I mean don't we all? To be honest I wouldn't even call myself a "Foodie". The point I am trying to drive home here, is that despite all of that... I found myself enjoying the experience of eating, and moreover the fleeting highs of GOOD spicy food.
For a long time Columbia (Missouri) has lacked any flavorful restaurant to satisfy the needs for those like me. That being the need to have the spiciness feel like the bowels of the underworld engulfing my mouth in lava. Mind you today I didn't even get the hottest level I could, and the team behind this establishment has been listening to the feedback. Any that they get.
People said they want spicy, and they went out and built out multiple levels to choose from.

The demand for this quality of Indian food has been high for quite some time. With other establishments nearby failing to provide it. I personally felt judged when going to India's House downtown, and even when asking for a higher level of spice. I would get a low amount of heat simply due to the color of my complexion. A strong statement to make I know, but I can happily say it has been the OPPOSITE experience here at Curriosity.
Not only has the staff in all roles made me feel welcome and heard; One of the owners himself checked on me to make sure the spice level was up to my needs. Thank you Mr. Vankawala!!
All in all, the customer service is phenomenal, and they're trying to expand their efforts to satisfy as many people as they can.
Other aspects to the experience I feel like were well thought out as well. Me and my flatmate came on opening night, and even then they were quite busy.
Yet the overall noise level was quite minimal, the ambiance of the space was refined, and the subtle music playing in the background makes it feel more special.
Mind you I grew up eating in this very same location back when it was a Mexican restaurant, and when it was a Chinese restaurant later on. Here's to hoping that this establishment stays here for quite a long time as well!
Prior to the opening I was calling every week for a couple months to see when it would finally have their opening night. They were preparing well, and had announced a time frame. Although I was just quite excited.
Speaking of which the hype was built up for quite some time, people from all over the city were excited to try it out. Creating an even bigger turnout than initially thought would be the case. Something I am so happy for them to have.
All I have to say at this point is that this is something that you should definitely try, even if you're not into spicy foods or if you're vegetarian. The team are very helpful to guide to towards something to have that fits your needs.
The people next to me came from St. Louis, and they went out of their way to try out the establishment. Which I think goes to show how well spread the word has gotten out.
I'm going back soon to bring my friends and family to experience the "Flavors of India"!
