Over the last week I have been catching up with things after going to Vidsummit 2025, and it was one of the best experiences I've had. During the week I managed to find a karaoke bar nearby, and although I had cool people with me it was a disappointing experience. This being because it wasn't an official event, and so not as many people had come.
As well as, the audio situation left a lot to be desired. Now I host Karaoke myself a ton where I live, and I have been doing it for about half a decade. I've even been going to karaoke regularly for now over a decade.
In my short few years of going to creator conferences I've been to Podcast Movement, NABshow (creator area especially), Grow with Video LIVE, and now Vidsummit. I would like to attend more, many more, and I'm sure I will over the years.
Now how fun would it be to have Karaoke as an event for your conference?
Why would it be a good idea?
I went to a number of parties, meetups, and events at these conferences. I always looked around for karaoke nights happening near the events too. As it can be a bonding experience with peers.
Even if some people are more shy or introverted, it still is fun for everyone. I always say there are the people who like to sing in front of others, and there are people who like to watch. We need both for the night to be the best!
A lot of these events will have mixers/cocktail hours, or maybe even a rented out bar. However not everyone wants to dance, and it can often be a bit underwhelming. If there was karaoke, then there would be more interactivity.
How does it work?
My intention is to have a win-win scenario. You get to have a more engaging after-party, and I get to have access to the conference.
Now I'll provide the computer and software, however I do not have a sound system/microphones to bring with me. If need be I can purchase mics, and I would assume that most venues will have a sound system to use for events like this.
How much do I charge?
Depending on the size of the event I'll charge based on the hour or on a package basis. Subject to discussion with event organizer.*
Additionally, I would request accommodations to the event.
Most professional corporate DJs charge $200–$300 per hour, with packages often ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the complexity of the event. -https://goodtimedj.com/how-much-do-corporate-dj-gigs-pay/
If this seems to be too much for your event, as it is more of a smaller affair, then we can discuss special conditions.
What else is there to know?
Most karaoke DJ's tend to use one of few tools, and depending on which one you use it can change how the logistics work.
The tool I like to use has most songs you can think of, and even a QR code tool to add in songs individually. Instead of having to go through me directly.
All in all, I am surprised more events aren't doing this, and I hope you reach out to hire me! Please DM me @polyinnovator to set something up (on any platform), and I'll send you my contact info then.
