I found it frustrating that most links when you searched for streaming platforms didn't really focus on what was important for CREATORS. I mean both in the sense of educational and gaming creators, so I am not going to really separate, as there is a lot of overlap on platforms. Where a gaming creator might use Twitch, and a course creator might use Substack; Technically either one could use both.
Now for simplicity's sake I am probably going to include my own link on the streaming platform, that way you can see what it looks like. If I don't happen to have a profile, then I'll just leave the basic link.
Why am I making this post?
I wanted to find the list myself, as I was looking into multistreaming. As well as streaming for podcasters. I thought that pretty much all the links were either outdated, or they were large charts/spreadsheets. That weren't really helpful for my use case. I did link those at the bottom in case you want to see other platforms I may not have listed, but still!

Various Streaming Platforms you may or may not know!
This post is really geared towards focusing on platforms you could actually use. Or if you are multi-streaming, then adding an extra destination. In case you want to try and increase your reach.
I may avoid some regional based ones, like that are Korea only, or Russia only, etc. However something like BiliBili that is becoming more and more global I will include.
Twitch
At the time of this writing I find that Twitch is highly overrated. It was essentially the first livestream destination, so they rode that high for a while. It might still be one of the largest, but it is quickly losing a ton of streamers to better platforms.
Dlive
One of the only decentralized alternatives, and one of the first Twitch alts that came out too.
Caffeine (ended)
I'm listing this one even though it is dead, simply because I know a lot of people would bring it up.
Trovo
SteamTV
Surprisingly very valuable for certain gaming creators
Rumble
Substack
What might surprise many of you is that Substack has a livestreaming feature. Not enabled for everyone just yet, and I've had mixed results. However it might be a great place for livestreaming for reporters/journalists/independent creators.
BiliBili
Chinese YouTube essentially.
Odysee
A youtube alternative that actually has a decent amount of creators on it, and you can technically livestream to it.
Social Media Platforms
I just thought I'd quickly go over the basic social media platforms, that technically have livestreaming, and for some creators would actually be important. However for most maybe not..
- Instagram (can be really hit or miss on importance)
- Rednote?
- Discord/Whatsapp/Telegram?
The Top Three:
These are the platforms that you SHOULD be streaming on. If you are more of an educational creator then maybe replace Kick with Instagram, but even still I would consider Kick as a destination still.
YouTube/YT Shorts
Probably the #1 platform you can be on as of this writing. Most potential for growth and discoverability, tons of push from YT themselves to do more LIVEs, and more features than other platforms as well. Plus all of your VODs actually stay on the platform, each being another doorway to your content ecosystem.
I started seeing many more people livestreaming to YT shorts, akin to how it is with Tiktok, and people are telling me that they receive a 100x more views/traffic than traditional horizontal streams. The cool part is you don't have to choose, as you can just simply do both at the same time. With an upcoming feature from YT too the live studio dashboard will actually combine the two layouts.
Kick.com
A lot of streamers have told me, or said in their content, that they made 30x more money streaming on kick than on twitch. Not to mention there still is not as much competition on that platform in comparison. Thus you have more opportunity to actually be seen for various games.
TikTok/Douyin
While TikTok has its ups and downs, and may or may not continue to be around in the States. Who knows. The platform itself LOVES it when you go LIVE, and they have really built out a complex Live Shopping ecosystem, that if you were to pursue that for example, then you could easily make 100k a year.
