I know a bit ironic considering the main premise of this site, polymathy, but honestly I think that is the challenge we all generalists face.

Knowing when are we doing too much, and when its just right. I think it is pretty easy to tell when we are not doing enough, as our brains tell us we could be doing more. Perhaps our heart tells us we WANT to be doing more.

In my experience as a polymathic person I've come to the conclusion that it is a Serialized versus Interleaving debate.

In some cases you will be focused on one thing at a time, and other times you'll be juggling many different things. People will wonder how are you spinning so many plates!

I've found myself, especially in the last few years really leaning towards the latter. Doing many things, and doing a decent job at juggling. I say decent, as it has taken a bit longer than I'd like for some goals.

However as of late I've really started getting frustrated by how much I have to do, and overwhelmed given the lack of life progress. While I've done a lot with my content, paid work, jobs, and networking. Overall my life progression has gone to a standstill. Now with the economy going to the crapper, I have even less of a chance to move or do things that I need to do.

This journal entry today marks a moment where I think I'm going to narrow down my focus. While in the past the PolyInnovator TV took front and center, PolyTools second, and gaming a 3rd place trophy.

I've already paused gaming content, even written for the most part, and swimming is essentially done until I finish my book. Which I think I'll keep writing off to the side, although I may hold off and work on my new book too regarding the changed focus...

PolyTools has been interesting me more and more, with greater focus on technology as well. Such as computers, creator tech, and more. I think that will finally take center focus, the blog newsletter and the YouTube channel.

All geared around the tagline "How to be a Modern Content Creator", which would allow me to build up my thought leadership. Moving into keynote speaking, and authoring a book on the Digital Renaissance. I want to plant my flag, and the polymathy niche is going to take too long.

In my head I think I have a pretty good understanding in the macro, how long each of my niches will take to become successful. While there will be SOME overlap, significantly on this site since they're all on one website, there isn't enough to grow all of them together. Hence the sequential philosophy, serialized, or put simply "one after the other".

Polymathy isn't necessarily doing everything all at once, it is simply you as the person being multi-faceted.

Thus going forward I think I am going to be focused more on the 🔧 The PolyTools Digest - OmniChannel Content newsletter, as well as the https://polytools.blog tools directory website. Which I need to ReBuild AGAIN, as the ghost cms version was too complicated to manage (adding tools, and fixing theme problems).

The YouTube already has some cool ideas coming, and the newsletter will round up all the various best tools for each category!
